I'm thinking about this today because I spent the morning with a woman who clearly thinks so. Or, rather, she thinks the converse ... that because I don't have her age, I must not have wisdom either. (At one point in the conversation, she referred to me as 'sweetheart'. She would not have referred to either of the other women present that way.) Mostly, I'm prepared for this, and I spend a remarkable amount of time at these meetings silent, listening and joining in only when necessary. But I have to admit, I don't understand why the fact that I'm younger than she is, or that I have children who are still in preschool, automatically seems to mean that my thoughts and opinions can be shot down or loudly discounted.
You may say, "suck it up, kid, this is the way the world is." And possibly so. But I've never found a particular correlation between age and intelligence, and, frankly, don't appreciate being treated like a child by a woman who is my peer. End of rant!
