One thing I always said to myself about "when I have kids ..." was that I wouldn't have a screamer. You know, the type of child you hear shrieking from the back of a Target as you're coming in the entrance? That kind. I did pretty well the first couple of times ... then I had Veronica. Who feels the need to express all her emotions both shrilly and at the top of her lungs. I don't believe she really understands the concept of an "inside voice". And while I love her enthusiasm, I wish she would find other ways to express it.
Ideally, this is the kind of thing that will be eradicated in school ... but in the nine months until that blessed activity begins, I admit I don't quite know what to do. Unless, of course, someone has invented the parental grail - a mute button for children.
